Date of publication: June 28, 2025
Date of last review: June 24, 2025

Flight Training Alliance GmbH attaches great importance to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are committed to providing all users with an inclusive online experience in full compliance with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and all relevant accessibility standards. These include EN 301 549, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), and the Accessibility Strengthening Ordinance (BFSGV) issued under it. Our goal is to make our digital services easily usable and understandable for everyone.

Scope of this Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the services provided by Flight Training Alliance GmbH on the website www.flighttrainingalliance.com in accordance with the BFSG. It was created on June 24, 2025, and will be reviewed and updated as needed.

Measures to Ensure Accessibility
To ensure compliance with the BFSG and related accessibility standards, Flight Training Alliance implements the following ongoing measures:

  1. Audits: We conduct regular automated and manual accessibility audits to systematically assess our digital offerings for compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and EN 301 549. These audits help us identify and remove potential barriers.
  2. Training: We provide continuous and comprehensive training for our content managers, designers, and developers to ensure they are familiar with best practices in accessibility and apply them throughout the content creation and development process.
  3. Integration into Development Lifecycle: Accessibility is embedded in our software development lifecycle — from design and planning through to testing and deployment — following a "Born Accessible" approach wherever possible.
  4. Specialized Accessibility Team: We maintain a dedicated team responsible for overseeing and advancing digital accessibility initiatives across our digital platforms.

Conformance Status
Based on our most recent evaluations, the website www.flighttrainingalliance.com is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the European Standard EN 301 549, as referenced by the BFSG. This means that key parts of the website already meet the relevant accessibility requirements, though there are still areas where improvements are necessary to achieve full compliance. We are actively working to remove these remaining barriers.

Accessibility Evaluation
As part of our ongoing compliance process, www.flighttrainingalliance.com was extensively evaluated by our accessibility specialists according to the four foundational principles of digital accessibility (POUR):

  • Perceivable: Use of alternative text for non-text content, provision of text alternatives for multimedia (e.g., subtitles, transcripts), sufficient color contrast for readability, and adaptable presentation without loss of content or structure.
  • Operable: Ensuring all interactive elements are keyboard-accessible, effective focus management for users of assistive technologies, and proper control over time-based content.
  • Understandable: Clear and descriptive page titles, logically structured heading hierarchies, consistent navigation, and input assistance to help users avoid and correct errors.
  • Robust: Compatibility with a wide range of assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers), and use of semantic HTML for reliable content interpretation by machines.

In addition to internal assessments, our website has been reviewed by external accessibility experts and is regularly tested in collaboration with individuals with disabilities.

Identified Accessibility Issues
Despite significant efforts to ensure accessibility, we have identified the following areas and content that may not yet be fully accessible. We are actively working to resolve these issues:

  • Missing alternative texts for some images — we are reviewing and updating these.
  • Inconsistent heading structure — skipped or illogical heading levels; we are standardizing this.
  • Non-descriptive link texts (e.g., "Click here" or "More") — being replaced with clear, meaningful links.
  • Complex forms and interactive elements that may be difficult to use via keyboard or screen reader — these are being optimized.
  • Third-party content (e.g., embedded tools) may not meet our accessibility standards — we aim to provide accessible alternatives.
  • PDF files that may not be fully accessible — we are reviewing, replacing, or labeling these accordingly.
  • Videos without captions or transcripts — we are adding subtitles to improve comprehension.
  • Session timeout limitations due to security — we aim for a balance between usability and security.
  • Inconsistent use of alternative text on images and graphical elements.
  • Some form elements lack programmatically determinable labels.
  • Focus order is sometimes illogical or the keyboard focus is not clearly visible.
  • Mismatch between accessible names and visible names on some controls.
  • Slider elements may have keyboard interaction issues.
  • Drop-down menus or select fields lack clearly visible focus indicators.
  • Some form controls do not adequately display their current focus status.
  • Focus indication may not be clearly visible throughout the site.
  • Text over images or backgrounds may have insufficient contrast in some cases.

We are continuously working to improve our website and digital services. Due to the volume of materials, we have not yet been able to make all content and services fully accessible. We are committed to addressing all identified issues in a timely manner.

A comprehensive improvement plan is underway to resolve these problems. Accessibility enhancements will be introduced gradually across the platform as they are completed and thoroughly tested.
